Morning All,
Just found and joined this forum, I have a 2000 Crewcab V6 manual transmission, bought when it was 18 months old, so have had many years of good driving. Odometer will pass 100,000 in next few months.
Truck is a daily driver, most trips are 2-5 miles on roads that are either badly potholed or best for mountain goats, live on St Thomas USVI so weather is 85 degress plus year round.
Have been replacing various engine sensors over the past 18 months, seems like I replace 1, engine light goes out for a month, then back on... truck defaults to rich setting and drives like a pig, smells like lighter fluid and drinks like its Irish (I'm Irish so I can say such thing:o) with the gas mileage dropping off the chart.
I have several questions.
1st - Can anyone recommend an aftermarket, code reader/computer - I have seen adverts for BullyDog which interprets driving patterns and allows for adjusting parameters to personal levels - I'm most concerned about improving the gas mileage - I get 13mpg on a good day. Is there a Nissan or better still Frontier specific alternate to the BullyDog?
2nd - Are there any other things I can try to aid gas mileage (aside from cycle to work)?
3rd - Squeaks, this island is 15 miles by 5, when I'm on the road, everyone knows it! does anyone else have this problem? What are the solutions?
4th Suspension. The truck is pretty standard (tires are 31x10.5x15) replaced engine and transmission mounts last month - transmission mount was completely shot, now that I don't have that rumbling I can hear that my front shocks are drumming, so will replace next. Wondering if I should just go stock or if I should get something different - won't be opposed to a small lift 2" perhaps.
Anyways, will stop there for now, any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Regards, Glen
