I am looking to purchase a 2005 CC with a V6, M/T and 4WD. It has 100k
on it. Since this is the first year of the 4.0L with a 6speed manual and
electronic Transfer Case, I was
wondering if there is anything I should look for.
Dealer just installed a new clutch. Why would it need a new clutch? Past
owner had difficulty getting used to a M/T with that much torque?
Dealer also installed a new cat. Again, why after only 100K? Truck is it
Iowa, and pretty sure they use salt on their roads in the winter.
Its a nice truck and a good price considering it now has a fresh clutch.
Thanks
-Drew

Clutch's can wear quickly if someone isn't used to
driving m/t, or hasn't been taught how to properly drive
them. Plus towing can take a toll as well.
Offroading/mudding etc etc. You hopefully see the point.
it's hard to say without talking to the previous owner.
And as for cat, if using crummy fuel for 100k miles i
wouldn't be surprised if it needs to be replaced. The
midwest is a big user of the 10% ethanol. I'm not a big
fan, especially when it comes to injected motors.
I would honestly be more concerned with leaks, how it
runs/drives, alignment, damage, rust, brakes. If the
dealer wants to use their money to replace stuff let them
