Hi all. I have a 00 Frontier SE CC 4x4 with auto trans. The abs is very sensitve. DANGEROUSLY sensitive. When driving on slippery roads the abs will kick in even under the most modest braking. I've almost been in several collisions because of it. And stopping on a slippery hill is nearly impossible. I've owned it since 03'. It's always been this way. I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem? Is it common to the Frontiers? What about the newer style Frontiers? Would like to hear your input on this. Thanks.

When you say "slippery" do you mean wet, snow covered,
ice???? It is supposed to activate on slippery surfaces.
Does it ever activate on dry? If so, you may have rust
buildup under a sensor causing abnormal activation. Have
you cleaned and adjusted the rear shoes lately? Are the
front pads working freely in the supports and the caliper
pins moving freely? PS. I've had my 08 activate on paint
strips in the dry(usually due to over aggressive
driving!!!!)

I have only had mine activate downhill on an icy road, which was a blessing...

It mainly activates in snow/ice. It has also activated on wet grass. When it does activate it it's not like it's coming to a slow stop. It won't stop at all. It makes a strange pulsing noise and just keeps on rolling. Actually speeding up if I'm going down hill. It seems to be the front brakes that are the most efffected. Also easing up on the pedal and gently reaplying the brakes does no good.

DO NOT AND I REPEAT, DO NOT PUMP THE PEDAL W/ ABS. It
sounds like and I may be wrong, that your truck is equipped
with only front ABS. As mentioned before, do a complete
check of the rear brake system. Proper adjustment, proper
operation of wheel cylinders(work them back and forth to
verify not stuck). Also check for frozen(rusted stuck)
caliper pins and pads stuck in supports. The pulsing sound
is normal, but it sounds like the rear is not working very
well. In excellent condition, these trucks never had a very
impressive stopping ability, let alone 12 years later.
