Hi Folks, I've got an 08 Frontier LE w/ 28K miles. Just had the front stabilizer bushings replaced by the dealer but i'm still hearing a clunking noise in the front end when i turn the steering wheel while moving or going over bumps in the road or parking lot. Happens all the time on cool/cold days below 45 degrees F, or so. Anybody ever hear of this? I thought the tech bulletin for the bushings would have taken care of it. Listening...

I have seen where the cab mounts will cause this concern.
Loosen the mount bolts, spray the mount rubber with
penetrating oil, re-tighten bolts. Check the hood for a
good firm fit when closed(no play in the latch).

Thanks Frontierguy. I'm stupid, though. Where are the cab mounts? I know it's not the hood, I checked that. It actually sounds more like it's coming from the outer edges by the tires?

Underneath, look for the mounting points for the cab to the
frame.

Thanks. I'll just have the Nissan dealer look at it. I'm not familiar with where exactly I'm supposed to be looking.

Folks, here's the solution I found to the clunk, sound in the front of my 2008 Frontier LE Crew Cab.
Thanks to Frontierguy for the advise about checking the hood latch. I continued to hear the noise in the front end. I took it back to the dealer and they diagnosed it was bad bushings in the steering gear mounting. No way. Took it home from the dealer and it was still there.
I drove a short distance repeatedly with the hood unlatched and was able to trace it to the latch. the metal loop under the hood that secures into the latch was not seating properly. After applying some electrical tape to the metal loop, no more sound. Is there a more permanent solution, like adjusting the latch or rubber under hood suspension mounts? Chuckp25

There should be two adjusting bolts , one on each side, out towards the fender along the metal edge that holds the latch. They should have a plastic/rubber covering. You can turn these to go up to increase the tension on the latch. A common adjustment on hoods!

Boomer or Frontierguy - there are two bolts on the outside ends of the hood latch. The latch moves up and down when the bolts are loosened. if i want to hold the hood down more tightly than current, do i adjust the hood latch down or up?
