You may have interrupted current flow it some other electric connector.
You need to ascertain if you have a heat related problem. Does the truck run a little better before it warms up? Look for a bad thermostat, water pump, collapsing intake hose or plugged up passageways in the radiator. Buy an inexpensive laser heat detector. Check the two radiator hoses, the out put hose should show a pretty good temperature drop. The input hose should not be much over 200 degrees.
How old are the spark plugs? The injectors could be fouled and the engine with heavy carbon deposits. You might try a Sea-foam treatment.
