The type of material used on the brake shoe will make quite a difference in the ability of the parking brakes to keep the wheels from rotating when parked. In the early days of hydraulic brakes we had emergency brakes. Today we have parking brakes.
I drove my 1976 Jeep Wagoneer 15 years before I noticed the parking brakes didn’t work… I then fixed then but never used them. In all that time (21 years) the state inspection never checked them. Stopping some GM/Chevy trucks at highway speed just one time with the parking brakes can be very expensive!
Have a good one.. Don S..
