has anyone remove the roof rack on the new frontys??? the more i look at it, the more i dislike it. and it is just a pain in the ass when washing and whiping off the roof. i know there will be holes there. i was thinking about just getting some rubber gromits and having the painted to match. body work is out of the question. i dont want to spend that kind of money.... any input would be appriciated!

I took mine off the 2nd day I had the truck. I took one bolt out first and took it to hardware store. I matched it up w/ screws the same thread but flat and short, along w/ rubber washers. I then went home and spray painted the screws black to match my black truck. Don't forget the loctite.
Sound easy? It was for me until it rained....
All the holes were sealed except for the front passenger side. Reason being there is a section of the roof where you can push down on it and it is not welded to the roof. So I went back to the hardware store and got a clear sealent. I sealed it shut and now it doesn't leak at all. But it was a PITA trying not to get the sealent all over the rest of the area around the roof. But it worked so now I'm happy.
If you have any other questions feel free!

Why would you take that off. I just don't get it. I think
it makes the truck look bad ass. My opion though. Can you
buy these from the dealer. I want one. When I bought
truck they didn't have every other option i wanted with the roof
rack. And I really needed a new truck!

I really would like one for my camping gear, Canoe Ect. I
should probably look after market. Would be about half
price. With or without they are still sweet trucks.
