Chuck,
I'm certainly not going to ridicule you.
You are driveing a lot of mile's a day, and I'm hopeing it
is only 5 day's, and 4 day's would be a lot better.
I would definitely stay with the Nissan Oil Filter. I know
that you would like to lengthen the oil change interval's
especially if you do them yourself like I do.
I would reread the maintenance schedule in the Maintenance
Manual or it may also be in the Owner's Manual to see if
there was any leeWay. If there isn't then I would talk
with @ least 3 Service Manager's and if possible 3 Nissan
Master Tech's to see what they say about going longer
between oil change's.
To be Honest,, if you want Your Engine to last as long as
possible, I would try to stay with the Prescribed
Maintenance Schedule, but I do understand the Pain of
haveing to change the Oil often because of the High Mile's
that you are driveing.
One thing that You can do is send off a portion of the next
oil change to BlackStone for an Analysis and they'll tell
you if they think you can go longer between the Oil
change's.
In this case there is one thing that you can do to make it
easier is to add a Spigot on the Oil Sump to do away with
takeing the Drain Plug out each time and that'll help some
with the time and effort involved.
You didn't say which year you have, but I'm assumeing it's
either a Gen 2 or Gen 3. If it is a Gen 2, I would look @
makeing it easier to get to the Oil Filter which will also
help with the Time and work involved if you are doing it
yourself. I don't know how hard or easy they made it
getting to the Oil Filter on the Gen 3's.
What I'm getting at if you do it yourself, is to figure out
how to Whittle Down the Time and effort it take's to do the
Oil Change. If you worked @ it,, you might get it down to
say 20 or 30 minute's or even quicker haveing everything
ready to use,, sort of like an assembly line. You could
even have it down to haveing everything premeasured so you
wouldn't have to take extra time checking and double
checking with the DipStick. You might even get it down to
10 or 15 minute's.
Remember there is also other maintenance to do as well,
like The Rear Axle Oil or whatever other Sump's that you
have that will also need to be serviced, includeing the
Coolant and if A/T ATF when they come due to be changed
out. Don't forget the Battery. If the Terminal's are
clean, coat the Terminal's with Cable's attached with a
Thick Coating of Multipurpose Grease to prevent Terminal
Corrosion.
Truck Maintenance is a Chore, no doubt about it, and the
more mile's driven, the more often it has to be done, to
keep everything in Tip Top Ready to Go Condition.
I'm not sure I helped much, but maybe you got something
from what I said that Might Help You.
