Has anyone had any experience with a truck/slide on camper on a short bed? I own an 01 Crew Cab short bed and am considering slapping on a camper, but not sure if the short bed will allow for one long enough to sleep 2 adults 2 kids, or be reasonably comfy for a planned one month trip this summer.

Any thoughts?

Rick

..

breckenrick;

... I haven’t looked or seen one for a short bed. I have look at them for our 6’ 2” bed.

... All I’ve seen were 950 to 1150 lbs dry weight. That and the wife and my bodies plus a bag of fritos about equal the max gross loading for the truck. The loading is based on many factors. Some of the big ones are heat build up in the transmission, differentials, axle bearings, engine cooling systems, and over powering/heating the brakes. I gave up the idea. We waited ’til the kids were gone and used a simple camper shell many times.

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

If something I’ve posted on the Internet offends you please ignore it. If you don’t know how to ignore something on the Internet e-mail me … and I’ll demonstrate.
