I know domestic manufacturers limit their manual transmission half ton trucks to 3,500 pounds towing capacity.  I can't see where Nissan has a limit, if any.  I am sure I can pull 3,000 pounds safely, but I am curious as to what others experiences have been.  I'll have a travel trailer, hopefully, and pull it around the mountains of the PNW.

My 2006 Frontier has the tow package and any tent trailer I buy will have electric brakes.  Can someone tell me if all I do is plug the trailer light plug into the Frontier's receptacle and the brakes just work or is there something else I need to do.

Thanks.

Greg

My 06 has a limit of 6500lbs listed  (i forget where i found that number) however it has the towing package with the Class III hitch which is limited to 5,000lbs. i've easily pulled my boat (whole rig weighs 4500lbs) with no trouble. i have the 4x4 SE with the VQ40DE V-6.
For brakes, the 7 pin harness is capable but I think you'll need a brake controller in the cab. it doesn't have one stock. I've never used electric brakes on my trailer, but i'm going to install hydraulic brakes on it one of these days.

Check out the Nissan towing guide link I have below. There is a lot of info about towing and it lists the towing capacities of all Nissan Vehicles based on vehicle engine size, trim, etc.

Thanks for the feedback and the link. Glad to see I can go as high as
6,000 pounds with the manual. I don't see that being necessary but still
it is good to know.

Now I just need to decide on trailer.
