Has anyone ever had any problems with their tailgate latch disengaging? I thought that the problem was the latch itself so I bought a new one. After installing it I am able to open it up rapidly 4-5 times before it disengages itself. This is annoying because I have to use the key to re-engage the latch. Any help or advice would be great.

Well I need to know a couple of things first.  Like exactly which part is not latching properly, and which part you replaced.  I have a good idea what it could be, or how to fix.  But I need to know what you already worked on first.

I replaced the whole assy. The only part that wasn't replaced was the lock. The large black plastic panel on the tail gate is the entire assy. I was suprised that it came like that for the price I paid but it did. I will have to take a pic to show you. I will do that here in a minute.

Sorry I couldn't make the pictures small enough to upload. I am hoping that the latch just needs to get broken in. I guess we'll see

sounds to me like the handle is not your problem... but the latches at the edge.  Try taking some WD-40 to them, also pulling them out might help as well.  It's easy for dirt and grim to build up, and cause the latches to seize up.
