I have a 2004 Frontier XE with 4cyl, automatic.  Yesterday while driving vehicle started missing.  I drove to destination, vehicle set approximatley 30 minutes, got back into vehicle and after short distance it started missing again.  First thought was a fouled spark plug.  Once I began driving up a mountain pass the "service engine soon" lighted started flashing, I pulled over and it briefly stopped flashing and went away.  When I attempted to engage from park to drive the vehilce died and wouldn't start.  It acted like it wasn't getting a spark.  Had vehicle towed to repair shop, after approximately 2 hours of diagnostics mechanic determined two things, first the injector fuse was blown and second the cyl 4 injector wasn't receiving a ground signal.  Mechanic traced circuit back to the ecm and it was sending a signal for ground, however the injector wasn't responding.  Bad injector or faulty ecm?  Help would be appreciated.

It seems like there was a concern with the harness chafing
against the bracket on the valve cover towards the right
rear. With a blown fuse, I would be looking for a short to
ground. If the ECU ground signal is OK, I would think the
ECU is OK. A check of the harness for continuity is needed
to determine the source of the concern. Did he try swapping
another injector to isolate the concern?
