Hi all! I'm new here! I just picked up a 2007 Frontier XE
manual 2WD about a month ago. This is my first Frontier.
It's what they would call a little "grandpa" truck. Looks
like new, CarFax shows it was always maintained, and only
has a hair over 65k miles.
It was excellent for the first few weeks, but recently has
developed an intermittent vibration above 40MPH. I can feel
it through the floor, shifter, and see the passenger seat
vibrating side to side. As I said, it comes and goes,
sometimes it's completely gone and sometimes it's quite
violent.
Truck has what appear to be basically new firestone tires.
What are your thoughts? I'm going to get the tires rotated
and balanced, but I'm fearing it's bad u-joints or carrier
bearing in the driveshaft. Would those be failing at 65k
miles???

Kevin,
If as you say all was well then all of a sudden vibration,
then something happened to cause that IMO. Hit something
like a pothole, curb, something rough in shifting. Maybe a
Wheel weight fell off or maybe one of the tire's suddenly
went bad. If it was a universal joint suddenly fail were
you offroading, spinning, etc.
Start with the Tire's and alignment, while they got it on
the rack have them check the universal joint's and/or play
@ the Carrier Bearing. Maybe the Carrier Bearing need's
greaseing.
Hopefully it'll be the tire's and/or Alignment.
