I have the 08 Crew Cab SE. I live on a military base and the speed limits are very slow and very enforced. 25 around base and 15 in base housing. I was getting 13mpg at first. I dropped the tail gate and got another 2. With 15mpg I decided to get a Spectre air filter. The washable, lifetime warranty one. AutoZone was trying to sell me the disposable ones for $18 and I told them I wanted the washable filter they were pushing the K&Ns. I made them order 887440 and its was $28. It looks so good, I want to cut a hole in the top of my air box and put Lexan so you can see through. Anyways....... I noticed a little more "PEP" after installing the filter. The truck just seemed lighter on its toes. But it was at a price. Mpg went donw about 1. :(  My next bright idea was to make a vortex generator. I installed it and I'm waiting for the next fillup to see what it did. I'll post pics of it later. My next step is a Jet throttle body spacer.

I highly suggest sticking to the Genuine Nissan oil impregnated air filter. The others will flow air easier along with dirt. Do a search on the independent test of the K+N.

If you are getting 15mpg that about the best around town or in slow speed area. The spacer seems like a wast of money most of the time a TB spacer adds power in a 25-4200rpm range

It’s like I said. It’s a quest. I'm going to try anything that promises increased gas mileage. I'm starting off with the cheapest thing and working my up and posting the results. As far as the filter, there was no oil in my paper filter. I would have replaced it anyways. I'm also going to try a warm air intake. Let it suck in some of the hot air from under the hood. The throttle body is next in the price line. It's $98. next will be a cherry bomb cat back, or high flow cats, or lund tri fold bed cover, or bully dog power pup. i have a lot of time to think about since i have to save the money to get one.
