my 2005 le crew cab made a clunk type noise front driver side, 2006 le crew cab same thing, i think its normal, maybe it has something to do with the abs braking system, servo, mine sounds like it's releasing air or pushing fluids also

Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) is part of the Nismo/LE package. If the brakes or something else engages quickly to test the system this it may be normal to hear this click/clunk sound. The strange thing about this for me is the fact that I bought a 2006 Frontier SE and the monogram on the tailgate is an LE label. I may have purchased a "SHEMALE" truck. The question now is if I ever sell this truck should I sell it as a SE, LE or an SE and a half. The interior and all are SE but I think I have VDC which is one thing that also makes it part LE.

that noise is when the vehicle hits 15 mph it is the abs servos resetting the abs system and it is thermal expansion from the steel exhaust to the aluminum motor.

I have had this problem since day one.  i bought with 43 miles, had the clunk. Now has 1300, still has the clunk.  Thought at first it needed to be broken in. But this is too long. As i write it is at the dealership being looked at.

It is definitely coming from right underneath the driver's side floorboard.  I can feel it in both my feet when it happens.  Can't see through the skid plates to figure it out though.

If anyone has figured out a solution, I would love to know.

Well, I can't say as to what the sound is for sure, but I am assuming it is normal. I have three friends that have Frontiers. So that makes 3 '06 SE 4x4 KC and 1 '05 Nismo 4x4 KC. All 4 of our trucks make the same noise. My mom's CRV is the same way. We were told it was the brake syestem resetting itself each time you pull out after starting. I listened to one the other day in the parking lot, and it did the same thing.

So I am assuming that the noise on our trucks is the same thing.

it is the abs servos resetting it is a system check to see if the sensors are working properly you here the same noise if your truck is equipped with abls limited slip the brake pressure is moving from wheel to wheel

Ok. After getting my truck back (they put 65 mi. on it and said they couldn't hear it. That's another story) I could buy that it's the brakes resetting, except that it doesn't ONLY happen right after ignition.  It will happen randomly at about 20-25 miles an hour when starting from a stop. Do the brakes reset after EVERY stop? if so, why does it not do it sometimes.

I have someone else telling me its the driveline popping from built up pressure in the differential.

Dont ask me what that means. But if anyone has more clarity i do appreciate it.

no every time you shut the motor down and restart it after 15 mph it will click.
