No fix to the rad. Does it look clean and new? Should be
able to see bolts and nuts that have had a wrench or socket
on them in order to remove trans. Compare the transmission
housing and transfer housing, they should be different in
cleanliness.

You more than likely got a reman transmission from Nissan. Nissan
rebuilt a unit that was sent back to them which is as good a new. You
cant fix a radiator. My suggestion, which i have done to several
Frontiers, Xterras, and Pathfinders, is install an auxiliary trans cooler.
Nissan does not offer one but the aftermarket world does. Eliminate this
problem once and for all. Worth the investment.

Is the Hayden 678 aftermarket trans cooler sufficient by
itself?

..
Tranny heat is created by pressure from effort x time.
Pulling trailers and climbing long grades or strong headwinds = extra heat.
If you operate up north you need the radiator in the system to warm the tranny in the winter.
You'll probably be OK with just a good Aux. cooler.
Good luck.. Don S..
