Hello everyone,

I am about to purchase a 2001 Nissan Frontier 4x4 with the V6 engine.  The car is in great shape and has 120K miles on it and is mechanically sound.  The owner has indicated that the AC works but is not blowing cold.  The dealership told him that the condenser is leaking.  I am pretty handy.  My question is that if the refrigerant has leaked out of the system can I perform the replacement myself without having to worry about pumping down the system prior to the replacement of the part.  If the system is lacking refrigerant, my theory is that after the replacement of the part all I have to do is have the system reloaed with coolant and then pressure checked.

Oh yeah, this is my very first post!  Also, is there anything else that I should replace while replacing the condenser (e.g. lines)?  Thanks for your reply.

Be careful with the fittings- they can be tricky to repair/replace. Also, you might run into some resistance with someone just charging the system without doing the rest of the work. Try to find someone small time and they will be more likely to get it done for you. Is that a R12 system?
