Winter is fast approaching and the heat is going to be very important and I seem to have a slight bit of trouble and cant put my finger on what might be the problem.

The heat works just fine when I'm driving down the road. It'll make you want to turn it down in a hurry. The problem is, when I get to a stop light it starts blowing cold air instead of hot. As soon as I start going again it's hot again and if and when I stop it goes cold again.

Is this a tell tale sign of some sort of problem or is it something that is relatively minor?

Thanks. ÷)

..

I could only guess... It might be coolant level, a voltage problem or a vacuum problem. Please state model, year, engine and so-forth.

Check the coolant level for starters...

Good Luck.. Don S..

Sorry, I have a 2007 Frontier with the V6 engine.

I will, however, check the coolant. Thanks.

Check the coolant over flow tank for any oil(trans fluid),
the rad cooler may have failed allowing coolant into the
trans and vice/versa.

I checked it yesterday and the overflow reservoir had fluid in it but the radiator itself was about 1½ quarts low.  I added straight antifreeze to it rather than 50/50. I need to flush and fill the thing soon because it hasn't been done before.

Thanks for the point in the right direction.

Might be a good idea to find out where the coolant went.
