So.....I finally took the leap and bought a truck,
traded the SUV. Wanted a Colorado but too expensive
and no discounts. I've always liked a Nissan V6, and I
am a fan of tried-and-true designs, so with a 2015
(prod 5/15) sitting there screaming incentives, I took
the leap.

Car had 46 miles on it and a couple of scratches
(already? how?) that the dealer we-owed to buff out,
among other things.

Figured out that neither key fob works. They are dead,
they do nothing, nada. The dome light doesn't work
unless you turn it on manually, with the key in the
ignition. Door function not working. Lastly, when I
start it, and begin to drive, both turn signal
indicators are illuminated solid! I can only turn them
off by using the turn signal.

Please tell me I didn't buy a lemon....

PS - Lava Red. I swear the front bumper cpver has been
painted. If not, the QC in Canton must be about as bad
as an old GM plant. They agreed to buff it out upon
return appointment, but I mean......wow.

Help! Newbie treading water here

Everybody want's their New Truck to be perfect.  Sometime's it's not that way, but that's why we test drive them and look them over before we buy them.

Sometime's we don't catch everything that is not perfect with a New Truck, but that's why there is a New TRuck Warranty, and especially in the First Year Nissan's Warranty, does more than after the First Year, without chargeing.

Try not to make a Mole Hill into a Mountain, and let Nissan Fix the thing's that are not right, which could have been caught when checking the Truck out.

On my '13, there was a small Air Outlet Grill laying on the Floor.  I didn't know what it was until I got the Truck home.  The little grill wouldn't stay in the molding, because the little grip's were too loose.  I just used a little bit of Acrylic Chaulk and put it back in.  I'm sure it'll hold for a long time.  I could have asked the Dealer to fix it,, and I'm sure that they would, but it was something that I could do myself,, without makeing a big deal out of it.

The thing's that you mention are small issue's that Nissan will get fixed for you, but don't let a Big Butt Attitude get the best of you.  Remain Calm and let Nissan Take care of your Truck.

Mine also had a small dent on the passenger pillar.  I didn't catch it at the Dealer and didn't discover it until after I got home.  I'm pretty sure that it didn't happen after I drove the truck from the Dealership, but it was nothing that I could prove, so I'll just claim it on comprehensive,, when the time come's.

I've been driveing a Nissan Truck since '93, and if I thought that Nissan didn't make a good truck,, I wouldn't have stayed with Nissan.  Period.

Concentrate on the Big Thing's that matter, like the Drive Train.  If your Truck drive's smooth, The Engine run's good, And the Transmission shift's good,, then learn to be happy and don't sweat the small stuff that much.  Environmental has mandated rule's that make giveing us a Good Paint Job a lot harder.  So be watchful about the paint,, and if you have issue's let your Warranty take care of it.

I've been taught and learned the hard way that Attitude, is just about everything, so keep a good attitude and let Nissan Take Care of You.  However, often we do have to be persistent at the same time.

HTH & Good Luck

Yeah, not planning to make a big deal out of it, just
kind of surprised. The main reason I bought the truck
was the type and quality of hardware (Nissan V6,
proven trans, 4x4) for the price (thousands less than
the new kids on the block).

It's clearly a decade-old design, and I find comfort
in that. Proven. Just like the hard plastic and mast-
antenna for the radio, sitting across from the shark-
fin antenna for the Nav and Sat, lol.

I remarked to my wife when she asked, how do you like
it? I said it feels twice as big and twice as heavy as
it looks, when driving and maneuvering, rides very
well for a truck (yes bouncy, but not at all jarring,
well-controlled and damped, which I attribute to the
Bilsteins), and plenty of power from the V6.

I have a different view of this truck. Mine is a 2012 King cab,4.0,4x4. I'm on my third rear differential at only 24k. Yes they have replaced the whole axle each time, can you believe it? This truck is just problem after problem. Low quality and design. Are you telling me they charged you to buff out the scratches? A lot of your other problems should be cleared up easily by the dealership, make sure you get all paperwork every time you take it in. This vehicle is going to be trouble. If you intend to keep it, get an extended service warranty before the factory one runs out. Nissan will charge you a vehicle inspection fee if it does. It should have a three year bumper to bumper factory warranty, with a sixty k warranty on the drive train. You got every right to be concerned and quite frankly mad. Good luck. The quality in Nissan is gone.

Sorry just giving you my experience. Google rear differential problem's, also If you have an automatic transmission, one little O-ring failure between the transmission cooler and the radiator will cost you a new transmission. I saw a lady breakdown in tears as the service rep. explained it to her. I feel your pain believe me. I will never buy a Nissan product again.

NC,

Be sure to read and understand the extra operational rule's for 4wd,  How to use it, when to use it,, and when not to use it.   Useing the 4wd,, when not supposed to use it,, can cause damage to your Drive Train.

During the model year's between '05-'10, there were some defective radiator's with the Automatic V6's.  I have not read about radiator coolant mixing with the Transmission Fluid before or after those year's.  There was and still is a Nissan Program to help those Owner's OUt.  It's the Owner's that never monitor their Fluid Level's, or have initiative to check technical bulletin's, or Recall's about their Truck, that are Surprised to learn about their Truck,, a Day Late and a Dollar Short,, when they have a problem.

It is up to the Owner to make sure that all Fluid Level's are correct, so make sure that you monitor all the level's, especially during the 1st Year and throughout the Warranty Period, so that Nissan can fix the problem,, and you won't be charged.  This include's the Rear Transaxle, Automatic transmission, and any other Fluid and Oil Level's that are associated with the Coolant, and Drive Train System's.

On my '93 Nissan 4cyl., I had a radiator leak.  I discovered the leak by monitoring the fluid level's.  Nissan replaced the radiator under warranty during the first year and no problem's with the coolant system afterward's.

On these New Nissan V6's;  To check the coolant level in the radiator;  Engine Overnight Cold;   First take off the Reservoir Cap to release coolant pressure, then take the radiator cap off.  The coolant should be up to the top of the radiator.   If the coolant is lower, then fill it full.   With the Radiator Full and the reservoir Cap off, the level in the Reservoir will show over full, but after the cap's are put back on,, and the engine is running,, the Coolant level will go back to the proper full level.

On my '13, the Reservoir showed Full but the Radiator was Low.  I thought,, here we go again.  I filled the radiator to full useing the above procedure,, and have not had any other problem's so far.

I have read many many post's of 2nd Generation Frontier Owner's getting over 200K Mile's,, and have read some that were still running good with over 300K Mile's on their 2nd Generation Frontier's.

How the Truck is Driven,, Monitored and Maintained make's a Huge Difference in the Durability of a Nissan Truck.

Read that Owner's Manual as many time's as it take's, to understand the How To's and The What Not's, for the Owner to do, to help Your Truck to last as Long as Possible.

Be Persistent and Keep a Good Attitude, is My 2 cent's.

HTH & Good Luck

I just brought home my Frontier 2016 SV V6 with no interior lights upon opening the doors and non functioning remote entry. It is a battery saving feature that should have been disabled at the dealer. All fuses were correctly inserted. Insert key and turn on and then off, gently push down on the turn signal switch and wind shield wiper switch at the same time and hold for 2 seconds, then push up on both and hold for 2 seconds or something like that and your good to go.
