So there are a fair few things going on with my beloved 2001 Nissan
Frontier. Wilst checking out the passenger side valve cover and
confirming that it is leaking to the point I have to worry about birds
nesting in there, I also notice a braided grounding strap that is loose.

It is bolted to the body right next to the ground from the battery cable.
The other end is just dangling. Has been for a while, judging by the
uniform discoloration of the eye at the end.

I tried to upload a picture, but failed miserably. Within the reach if the
cable there is nothing obvious to attach it too.

Is it at all clear what strap I am talking about and if so, who knows
where it goes?

Thank you!
Ben

..

The odds are it should be connected to the engine.
There is probably another one somewhere.

I'll Check my 99 tonight to see...

Take care.. Don S..

..

I looked under the hood of my '99 3.3. There are two small strange looking things that I believe are electrical ground "wires"… these things are small and look very fragile.
One is near the battery ground fastened behind the power steering pump. The other on the left is fastened to the A/C pump.
A lot of vehicles also have a ground strap on the tranny to the body. The positive has to get connected to the negative through these ground "wires".
There are also some grounds for items in the dash to the body.
I've never had to do any electrical work on any of the five Nissans I've owned….. yet!

Good luck.. Don S
