09 LE, 4.0 liter, 6 cyl. just turned over 6,000 mi.

I realize this is extreme, but I just wanted to see how much mileage I can
get...I mean absolute tops:

If I keep it below 60 at all times, keep an eye on traffic lights as I
approach them: slowing down before I get to the red ones so that I
don't always have to come to a complete stop. <---In fact, by doing this
I can often avoid even slowing down.... and on the highway, at rush hour,
by maintaining a steady speed (like truckers) instead of speeding up and
slowing down constantly (like most other cars) and really take it easy on
start ups and slow downs, I get a mixed
(city/highway) mileage of 24.7. I've done this a number of times for an
entire tank.

I have ordered an F&N intake and hope to improve on this.

I don't always drive this way, but when I do I get good mileage.

I. am the most interesting driver in de world.

Little disppointed in milage myself. I was averaging 17mpg in my 5.7 double cab Tundra. about the same with this truck that weighs 600lbs and 120hp less. I do like the truck though, especially off road. I have 265/70/16 that came with truck. Salesman told  me 22-24 highway, I told him I would bring it back if it did not. I maybe get a little over 20 on highway,

I should add, by driving the same way in my 97 hardbody 4 cyl., I was
averaging 27 city and highway. I'm happy with just over 2 mpg less in the
new 6 cyl. I like the power and realize you can only get so much mileage no
matter what you do.

Glen,

That's very good with such low mileage. I have a 07 LE that is programmed, K&N intake and modified exhaust and I get 23.7 on the highway @ 70mph.

MDeMott,
That sounds great. Would you elaborate on the specifics of your exhaust? I
will be looking into that as well. Bolt on? ...any welding necessary?

Is the K&N engine noise notably louder? (I really like the stock sound
already.)

Glen,

I installed the K&N system with the carbon fiber intake which is quieter than the chrome model. The only time I have noise is under hard acceleration.
The exhaust is a 11 chamber Flomaster with a Merc Tube installed before the Flowmaster. This gets rid of the loudness that I got with the Dynomax system that was previously installed.

Thanks, MDeMott.
I hope to get the intake installed this weekend if it ships in time.

number of stop lights.

buy a hybrid if you don't like the MPG. If  you have horses under the hood you have to feed them. I get about 19 mpg with the 08 4.0 but thats what the sticker said when I purchased the truck.

have a good one!!

I have a 2002 Nissan Frontier SE 4x4 Long Bed which is getting about 10-11 miles per gallon in City driving.  I have taken it to the local Nissan Dealer who, after testing the vehicle, indicated that there was nothing he could do about the low milage.  The only good thing about that experience was that the dealer did not charge me for the inspection.

I am disgusted and feel that there must be something to correct this problem.

Any ideas???

I have 03 frontier truck kingcab and with 91,000 miles and this truck has campertop on it and was getting 25 to 30 mpg with any problem.
