I have a 04 Frontier how do you break down and find out how many miles per gal. your getting in your trucks.  And not by looking at specs. on paper. Is there a formula to getting this.

You can try this:

1. Reset your tripmeter at your next fuel stop.
2. Drive around like you normally would.
3. At your next fuel stop, divide the distance you drove by the # of gallons you just added.

For example if you drove 320 miles since topping off, and you added 17.3 gallons...
320 divided by 17.3 = 18.5 MPG

My 2wd 2.4 5spd gets 25-27 on the highway at around 60-65. The
engine rests at around 2200-2300. The "powerband" on that engine is
3000-3200 and the gas mileage is significantly less at that
vehicle/engine speed. It's stock except for slightly oversized tires.

Is it possible to run a Frontier on 87/89 octane ? I have a 2008 crew cab 4.0L V6, with the gas mileage averaging 22mpg would it be beneficial to run it on lower octane to help fuel costs?

I have used nothing but 87 for me, and averaging 20 back and forth to work, my highest was 24, lowest was 18.

Over the last 3 or 4 months,my mileage has dropped from 19.5mpg to around 16.....tireas are always inflated to proper pressure,I drive 60mph on the highway, regular oil changes, and I just cleaned the MAF with no change.  seemks to be getting a little worse too.  Truck still seems to run fine though.  Going to change the plugs next and hope for an improvement.  Truck has 72000 miles on it so far.

I just did a MPG test on my 2008 Frontier SE 4 door and I am getting 21MPG. I use 92 octane in her the whole time and nothing else. I am getting about 400 miles to a full tank as I drive regularly from Seattle to Spokane in her so I am able to get fairly good highway MPG.
