Hello,

I just bought a new 2007 Frontier.  It does not have a hitch but I think it has the tow package.  Is there a way to tell?

Thanks

..

drjoefever;

... Welcome to the group!

My “99 came with the ‘Tow Package” it had the jumper wiring cable for the trailer lights and a hole in the rear bumper for a ball. It’s possible that other mods are made like better cooling systems and HD gear oils. It will vary from brand to brand and year to year. My Grand Cherokee even has an added Power Steering cooler. Somewhere in the paper work it should state all that is involved with the tow package. Check it out and let us know.

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

If something I’ve posted on the Internet offends you please ignore it. If you don’t know how to ignore something on the Internet e-mail me … and I’ll demonstrate.

I also thought of buying a class 3 hitch for my new Frontier, but what I tow is less than 2,000 pounds.  I looked under the bed and noticed that the bumper hitch is actually connected to the frame with a welded cross member that goes into the rear bumper.  So technically, it is not just a "bumper hitch".  Now I know why Nissan rates it at 3,500 pounds.

So, no class 3 hitch for me.  I'm just adding a 2" ball to the bumper and the wiring for the lights.

That was pretty good of Nissan to do add a heavy duty "bumper hitch".
